Running 4/22/21 CAS (LO1, LO4)

Since my last blog about running, my mile time has not improved much. Although I can certainly sprint a lot faster as I've been trying to improve my leg strength by working out with weights.  It will still take me about 6 minutes and 30 seconds to run a mile. I haven't timed how fast I can sprint, however, I would like to know how fast I am. Although I don't really enjoy exercising with weights, I find that it helps me run faster, and for that reason, I will continue to exercise with weights. Rather than trying to improve my mile time alone, I will probably try and find other runners to get advice from in order to help with how I go about long-distance running. Because in comparison to other sports I have played, I'm really not familiar with how to properly improve my running abilities. However, in the future, I hope to eventually improve my mile time significantly. Although, I am aware that trying to get a mile time faster than 6 minutes is very difficult.  LO1, LO4

Golf 3/9/21 CAS (LO1, LO4, LO6)

Golf is the first sport I have ever played. I started playing when I was about 4 years old, and at that point, I took it more seriously than tennis. I would get lessons quite frequently and go out to practice on the course with my dad or grandparents as much as I could. Oftentimes, I would go to the range as well if there was one available. Last year in the summer, I decided to start playing again simply because it is the safest sport in regards to COVID-19 restrictions. At that time, I was playing with my dad's golf clubs since I had outgrown the ones I used to use. Last Christmas, I received my own clubs as a present and started playing a lot more. Additionally, I joined the golf team to hopefully improve my game even more. Since last summer, I have improved significantly and hope to continue doing so. Last summer, I would normally score just over 100 on 18 holes. This means that I would take just over 100 strokes in total over 18 holes. Now, however, I will score below 90 on 18...

Running 2/9/21 CAS (LO2, LO4)

I have decided to take a break from tennis tournaments and instead focus on running. My main goal as of right now is to improve my lung capacity. In order to that, I've been trying to run for somewhat long distances anywhere from one mile to three miles, and as soon as I get to where I want I try and sprint as fast I can for roughly 20 seconds. Additionally, I am hoping to improve my mile time. About a month ago I was running 7-minute miles. Now, I will usually run 5 miles and the average time in which finish running a mile will be about 6 minutes and 30 seconds. So far, I have found that the only way to improve mile time is simply by running quite frequently. I hope to run a mile in 6 minutes, as of now, that is my goal and I feel like I can achieve it.  LO2 LO4

Tennis 1/9/21 CAS (LO1, LO2, LO5)

This month, I signed up for another tournament. Unfortunately, I had to pull out after my second match due to leg cramping. I was prepared to do well as I had played a good amount and had a lot of discussions with my coach in regards to what I should be doing mentally. Although I found that working with other people to help improve my tennis game was very helpful, I played quite poorly in that match that I actually played and I lost 2-6, 4-6. Although the score was better in the second set, I thought I played worse than I did in the first set. I've experienced multiple leg cramps over the past couple of months regardless of whether I've spent a great amount of time playing tennis. In some cases, I have had to pull out of matches simply because of muscle cramping. So I need to spend some time figuring out how to reduce the number of muscle cramps I have if possible. At no point do I want to risk getting an injury simply because I didn't take care of a muscle cramp. LO1, LO2...
